Rel Comm - Exclusive Provider of Mitel Phone Equipment in Western New York and North Carolina

PC-to-Phone is also referred to as direct SIP

Mitel has successfully completed Microsoft® certification testing for direct SIP connectivity between Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platform (ICP) and Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007 R2. Mitel is now listed on the Microsoft web site as a certified PBX vendor for direct SIP connection.

An end-user can establish calls from a Microsoft Office Communicator client, acting as a basic SIP softphone, to or from a Mitel desk phone, the public switched telephone network (PSTN), or any other network-connected PBX. The term PC-to-Phone encompasses calls between PC to PSTN, phone to PC, and PSTN to PC. This solution is typically used by mobile employees who do not have a desk phone, but instead want to use the embedded session initiation protocol (SIP) softphone capability within the Communicator 2007 R2 client.

PC-to-Phone SIP integration is supported between OCS 2007 R2 and 3300 ICP. From an Office Communicator client, a user can dial through the find field, through a contact list, or through the Microsoft Office suite of products as defined by the Microsoft server specifications. All telephony services for the Communicator softphone are provided by the OCS 2007 R2. There is no integration between the Communicator client and a Mitel desk phone; if this is required, then Mitel Live Business Gateway and remote call control should be used.

PC-to-Phone provides Communicator users with access to the full range of features provided by the OCS (for example audio and video conferencing, web collaboration, and simultaneous ringing). PC-to-Phone is supported with OCS 2007 R2 and 3300 ICP release 9.0 UR2 and MCD 4.0 SP1.
